About the Recipe
Featuring Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella Heart Shape

Ingredients
1 onion, finely diced
1 carrot, finely diced
1 stalk celery, finely diced
3 T. Olive oil
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
Red pepper flakes (optional, if you like a little heat)
1 lb. mix of ground beef, pork, and veal (or you can use just one or the mix of your choosing)
Salt & pepper, to taste
Pinch of nutmeg
3/4 c. Red wine (I use Nero d'Avola, but any strong red would work)
2 Bay leaves
700g jar of passata (or you could use a 28 oz. can of whole San Marzano tomatoes, crushed by hand in a bowl)
2 T. Tomato paste
2 c. Water
1 1/2 c. Frozen peas (or fresh are even better, if you have them)
1 retail cup of Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella Heart Shape (or any size)
Preparation
Heat oil in Dutch oven or other pot. Saute onion, carrot, and celery, until tender.
Add garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook until just fragrant. Stir in meat, breaking it up. Cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
Deglaze with the wine. Cook until wine evaporates. Add peas and cook a few minutes. Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Use the 2 c. of water to swish around the jar or can (to get the remaining tomato), and pour into pan. Add bay leaves.
Bring to a boil, lower to a simmer, and simmer, partially covered, at least 2 hours. Stir occasionally. If it starts to get dry, add a bit more water.
For pasta, cook your pasta al dente and add to the pan with the sauce. Top with Crave Brothers Fresh Mozzarella Heart Shpae, sprinkle with freshly grated pecorino romano or caciocavallo cheese. Enjoy! 🙂 <3
*Add a dollop of Crave Brothers Mascarpone for an additional creamy goodness!
