Chocolate Orange Stuffed French Toast

Where orange, chocolate and Mascarpone create the perfect breakfast combo!


4 oz. Crave Bros. Mascarpone

4 Tbs. orange marmalade

4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped, plus extra for garnish

4 (1-inch thick) slices challah or brioche

4 large eggs

3/4 c. milk

1 ½ tsp. honey

¼ tsp. salt

½ tsp. vanilla

2 Tbs. fresh orange juice

2 Tbs. unsalted butter

Confectioners' sugar or warm maple syrup, to serve


In a small bowl, mix together mascarpone, marmalade, and chocolate. Cutting through the top of the bread slices, make a 4-inch by 2-inch long pocket in each slice.

Place a generous tablespoonful of the mascarpone mixture in each slice. Place bread slices in a deep-sided baking pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, honey, salt, vanilla, and orange juice. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and let rest 3 minutes. Flip bread and let rest another 3 minutes.

Heat half the butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 2 bread slices to the pan and cook until golden brown on each side, flipping once, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from pan and wipe pan quickly with a paper towel. Repeat with remaining butter and bread slices.

Serve immediately with sifted confectioners' sugar, maple syrup, and shaved chocolate, if desired.
