Glittering Lemon Blackberry Basilico Mascarpone Tostadas

About the Recipe


8 ounces Crave Brothers mascarpone cheese

1 1/3 cup sugar divided use

4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 pint fresh blackberries

1 tablespoon light honey, simple syrup or corn syrup

2 tablespoons water

4 tablespoons coarse white baking sugar

3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil plus sprigs for garnish

12 vanilla flavored pizzeles


Mix mascarpone, 1 cup sugar, lemon juice and zest until smooth.

In a bowl mash 8 blackberries with the honey or syrup and mix well.

Sprinkle the remaining berries very lightly with water and shake or toss excess off. Toss or roll the the berries in remaining sugar.

Muddle the coarse sugar and chopped basil together until sugar begins to turn slightly green and is a bit damp.

Divide the mascarpone among the pizzeles, spreading about 3 tablespoons on each.  Drizzle with a bit of the mashed berry syrup and top with sugared berries.

Sprinkle with the basil sugar and garnish with basil sprigs.

Serve immediately.
